Waiting for something

Kenji walked along the edge of the lake looking out into its surface. He stopped sitting down upon the bank, picking up rocks he skipped them along the water's surface. He then sighed softly waiting for something, anything to happen to him. He layed down upon the bank and closed his eyes softly listening to the water lap against the banks edge.

Christy walked down to the edge of the lake like she did everyday after classes and dropped her books on the ground next to the boy, not recognizing him, "Do you mind if I join you?" she asked looking at him seeing him look familiar but unable to place a name to the face. She sat down next to him and moved her hair out of her face tucking a curl behind her ear. "I can leave if you want to be left alone."

"You don't remember me do you christy?" he said softly looking over at her. "I mean it has been seven years since we last saw each other." He looked over at her remembering her but he was saddened that she didn't know him when she first sat down. He didn't look too much different than when he was at age 10. He grew more and his voice was no longer child like.

Christy looked at him wide eyed as he said this, it finally hitting her who it was, "KENJI?!?!" She exclaimed pushing him on the ground, "Seven years and you couldn't atleast write a letter or anything?!"

"I wasn't allowed to. Kisa said that it was too dangerous to write you incase the vampires found us." he said looking at her. He sat back up and looked at her seeing she hadn't changed much from the girl he knew when he was little.

"Well Kisa couldn't stop you all the time." she said glaring at him angrily. She looked at him, curiously. Something about him was different. He didn't seem so bright anymore and rather more dark and mysterious. His clothes and appearance in general looked like a stylish goth kid. "And you know I'm right Kenji Moto."

"Your right she couldn't but i didn't want to end up like my parents. Dead on the floor of a mansion because they were only trying to help someone." he said looking at her. "My parents are dead christy and there's nothing i can do because those vampires killed the people trying to help so they didn't get killed by someone who dispised them. I'm being hunted because of those vampires. I have to constantly watch my back incase one of them tries to come up and bite me."

Christy looked in utter shock hearing this. "K..Kenj." she said, a nickname she had called him since they were three, "I'm sorry I didn't know...I..I went to Japan looking for you. I even went to the mansion and it just looked abandoned." She felt bad for how she had acted not knowing what had been going on, wondering why no one had told her what happened.

"We had to leave because if we didn't we would have been killed next." he said softly looking down at the ground in front of him. He looked like he had aged many years than just seven. His eyes looked ancient from seeing and experiencing everything he had in the past years. "We went to your father for money to loan since we couldn't find the key to the vault. We still can't get into our father's office in Japan. It has a complex spell on the lock. I'm sorry i didn't write. I wasn't allowed to not even to say that i was ok or tell you what happened. I'm glad i get to see you again Christy." he said softly not wanting to tell anymore about his past only wanting to sit there and talk about something different with her.

"W...why weren't you allowed to even send me an owl?" she asked looking at him. She couldn't believe it what was so harmless in sending an owl to let her know he was ok. "Well you know I'm good with charms, do you think that I might be able to break it for you?" she asked curiously. She was happy that Kenji was back in her life and even though she was angry with him for ignoring her all those years she still loved him with every fiber of her soul and wanted to help him in any way she could. She debated on whether or not to kiss him.

"I wasn't allowed in case the vampires found out where you lived. they would have used you against me. of course i would've come out to protect you. kisa knew that and said that it would endanger us all." he said looking at her his eyes were soft. He longed to kiss her after so many years they spent apart from one another.

Christy turned away from him, "She doesn't want us to be together does she?" she asked moving to get up, "Its okay I understand, probably for the best anyway...what with me being a silly little veela and all." She left her books on the ground as she walked off. She had seen the house colors of his uniform, he was a Ravenclaw and she couldn't face going back to the common room to face him if they weren't allowed to be together.

He ran after her and caught her arm. "That's not why i couldn't contact you Christy. I couldn't because the vampires were after us after they killed our parents we were the ones being hunted. We had no choice but to run and have no communication with anyone. You don't know how many times i tried to get in touch with you but i couldn't." he said turning her around to face him. "You don't know how long i've waited to see you Christy."

"And you.." she said turning around, "When have you ever been told you couldn't do something kept you from doing it anyway." she said proving her point, "If I remember correctly you got me into a lot of trouble when we were children by making me and you do things we were told not to." She walked off again tears flowing down her face, not wanting him to see her cry.

"You don't understand and from what it seems its not likely you will." he said turning and walking back to the lake. He threw a rock in the lake and sighed deeply as he did this. He sat down on the ground and looked out across the lake's shiny black surface.

Christy had started wondering off into the woods, crying. She couldn't face him looking like she did, nor did she want to. She wasn't paying attention to where she was walking and tripped over a root falling down on her face screaming as she fell, pulling her ankle up towards her after she was finally sitting up. She was crying harder and louder now from the pain from her ankle and wasn't sure how she was going to make it back to the school.

Kenji stayed where he was and sighed because she didn't know what he had gone through since he left Japan. He began humming a lulllaby his mother used to sing to him when he was little. He got up and began walking to the castle hoping to find Christy there since he didn't see where she was going when she was walking away.

Christy tried to stand up but let out a blood curtailing scream as she felt she couldn't put any weight on her ankle. "Stupid tree." she screamed as loud as she could. If no one could hear her then she'd never get back to the castle or get her ankle better.

Kenji ran towards Christy's scream and realized she was in the forbidden forest. "Lumos." he said as his wand lit up and he could see the path in front of him. He walked into the forest and called out to Chisty. He waited for her response to his voice so that he could find her and see why she had screamed as she did. He not once stopped walking in the forest while looking for her.

Oh gott anyone but him. she thought in her head while still hoping it was even though she had made a complete fool of herself. "Kenji?!" she called back to him hoping he heard her. From the sound of his voice he didn't sound too far away, "I'm over here!"
