Marcus climbed up the many stairs to the Owlery, seeking the solitary of the tower. He liked being around the owls, feeling like he almost had a connection with the birds, being an Animagus. He wore a cold smirk on his face as he leant against a window sill and looked out across the grounds. He watched a few first years run around and thought of the many different ways he could kill them. Perhaps it was because he had watched Rose kill that man which had brought these thoughts back, or maybe he wasn't quite right in the head. But either way, he had found himself daydreaming about killing people much more often than usual. He chuckled to himself then sighed. He hadn't seen or spoken to Rose for what seemed like a long time. He ran a hand over his arm, feeling the various ridges and dips in his skin which his brother had created. Someone had once told him that a person was their truth self in the moment of their death. 'That person was right,' he thought, as he remebered how his brother had screamed and begged for his life to be spared. 'But you didn't think of all the times you had hurt me,' he thought, still smirking, 'And i made you pay for each and every scar you gave me.'

Alex sprinted to the the owlery, he had to reply to a message he had received from a friend back home. He was sprinting because he had been sent the letter a while ago, but someone seemed to be taking up a lot of his time. As he creaked open the door he noticed someone he didn't recognise. He was staring out the window at the younger students below. Young children had always annoyed Alex, for many reasons, but the main one being they just wouldn't shut up. "Sorry," Alex said, half panting, "I didn't mean to disturb you. I won't be long." he said with a gentle smile on his face.

Marcus turned around and glared at the intruder, his sinister smile fading off of his face. He didn't like to be interrupted when he was daydreaming. He turned back to look out the window, thoroughly irritated that this person had been so rude to barge in at that moment. He pulled his shirt sleeve back down his arm, covering up the smattering of scars on his skin. He was ashamed of them because they showed that he had been weak and that he hadn't been able to protect himself or his parents. He watched the children run around and scream happily with each other. The one thing he hated the most about children was the noise they made. They never shut up and they seemed incapable of being quiet for more than a second.

Alex saw the other boy glare at him. Suddenly one of the first years shouted with laugher extremely loudly. Rolling his eyes Alex stepped to the window and leant out, "Shut the f'ck up!" he shouted, returning to the owl he was tying the letter to. Sighing he rubbed a hand against his head, children gave him headaches - especially when he had to shout.

Marcus smirked out of the window as the first years looked up, before running off away from the tower. He glanced at the boy sending the letter then turned back to look out of the window, a smirk still on his face. 'Stupid first years, always making a noise,' he thought, as once again images of him killing them entered his mind. His smirk twisted into something more sinister as the images became more detailed. Ahhh killing....what an excellent pass time.

Alex finished tying the letter to a large tawny owl. Watching it fly gracefully out of the window Alex stepped next to the boy to check the children had run off like good little boys and girls. "Bloody children." he tutted.

Marcus let out the briefest of laughs, sounding slightly rusty as if he didn't laugh very often, which was true as he didn't. He didn't like practical jokes, in fact, he didn't like jokes full stop. He shifted away from the boy, as if his mere presence was irritating him. The one fact about Marcus was that he didn't like people. It was almost common knowledge in Hogwarts, and people tended to stay away from him. 'New kid,' he thought, still staring out of the window.

Alex sighed and sat down next to the other boy, it had been a long day, it was nice to kick back and relax for a while. "You know...it's not that hard to talk." He said, smiling slightly and rubbing the dirt from the letter onto his trousers - something he didn't do very often.

Marcus looked down at the boy and narrowed his eyes, "It's not that hard to leave someone alone either," he said, in a cold, sharp voice. This was another reason why people annoyed him, other than being loud, they were also extremely nosy and couldn't help but put their noses into someone else's business. 'Definitely a new kid,' he thought as he turned to look back out of the window. He smirked and jumped up onto the window sill, holding onto the frame around the edge, as he leant forward, leaning out over the drop.

Alex smiled, "I suppose not. I apologise." Pulling his legs up so he was sitting cross-legged Alex let his eyes wander over the beautiful scene before him. He watched as the other boy leant over the edge of the room. It wasn't an exceptionally high drop, but it would defiantly break a few bones. Very painful. Alex longed to feel the wind around his body. He had always dreamt of flying, the freedom would be amazing. If only.

Marcus smiled and let go on one side, leaning as far out as possible. "Do you ever think about death?" he asked, staring down at the ground with a twisted look on his face. "Do you ever imagine what it would be like to kill someone?" He looked down at the first years again, then looked up to Hogwarts, smirking to himself. He let go of the frame completely, balancing on the balls of his feet.

Alex looked up at the other boy, slightly shocked. "Yes...actually. A lot of the time. It's what happens when you have a vampire for a boyfriend." Alex sighed and watched as the boy leant forward. What was he doing? Was he going to jump. Alex stood, making sure that if he did, Alex would have enough time to reach out and grab him before he fell. But it would be a close call.

Marcus wasn't surprised by the answer, it just meant that this person was a little more like himself. "Mmm we see death as a release from life but we don't know what lies beyond the grave." He smirked then turned his head to the side, looking at the boy from the corner of his eye, "Goodbye," he said, his voice surprisingly still cold and sharp. He bent down then pushed off on the balls of his feet, launching himself into the air, out of the window.

Alex gasped as the boy suddenly jumped out of the window. He tried to grab for him but he missed by inches. But something the boy had said made Alex feel as if he wasn't to worry. Looking down the boy wasn't laying on the floor in a heap, in the contrary, he wasn't even in sight. Where had he gone?

Marcus transformed in mid air, turning into a large bird of prey with black glossy feathers. He cawed happily and soared up into the air, playfully chasing a little owl on it's way to the Owlery. He large wings beat at the air, sending him higher and higher until he tucked them up, plummeting to the ground. He stopped himself just before he hit the ground, his claws just scraping the earth. 'Ahh how free i feel to be able to fly!' he thought as he flew upwards again, circling around the Owlery.

Alex smiled as he watched the bird circle the tower. How lucky he was, to feel the wind and the sun wrapping around him. Alex wished he had been able to learn how to become an animagus. How he longed to be able to escape when he wanted. To be truly free from everything. He sighed and sat back down just watching the bird soar. 'One day,' he thought, taking out his notebook from his back as he began to draw the sight before him.

Rose too came up to the Owlery with a letter to her father requesting some new guitar strings and a new notepad as well as sending her deepest love. There really was no one else she loved more than her dad. She could say she loved Sammael, but it was only a fraction of what she felt for her father. As for Marcus, well, she did feel so very strongly about him, but it was only when they were alone together that it felt like real love. His arms were the nicest to sleep in, but he avoided her around school.

She had expected the Owlery to be empty, but she instantly spotted Alex as she came up the stairs. And he was looking out of the window at a bird - Marcus! Furious at both of them, she bit down on her bottom lip to stop herself insulting Alex by saying something about him stealing another person from her life - it wasn't fair, it wasn't his fault - or to run over to the window and shout obscenities at Marcus for having left her so confused. She felt thoroughly abandonned by him, and thoroughly usurped by Alex. Instead of doing either of these things she simply went to the table silently and collected some ribbon, then tried to entice a barn owl down from its perch without a word of greeting to anyone. The sooner she could get out and scream, the better.

One letter couldn't hurt... Faith thought as she walked up the steps of the Owlery, not really looking where she was going as she hummed softly a slow tune that couldn't really be made out it was more of a slur of words if anything, that Faith was making up on the spot in her angelic voice. With the letter tightly gripped in her hand, she wondered up the steps, slowly as she went not really rushing as she had no where to be. Stepping through the archway a smile played on her lips as she then caught sight of Alex, smiling softly, "Who you talking to? Or has Gary made you go mad?" She chuckled softly as she walked over to her owl and let it flap onto her shoulder attaching the letter to its foot she walked over to the window where Alex was stood and whispered the address before watching it flap off her shoulder into the sky. Then she caught sight of Rose, was this some sort of gathering? What was going on today? She came here to get away from everyone but tried to let things slip and let a smile stain her lips as she nodded to Rose, "Hello," She mumbled as she then lifted herself up to sit on the ledge, smiling, "Wanna sit up here? You can see for miles," She laughed as she offered Alex her hand.

Marcus cawed again before landing back on the windowsill. He flapped his wings a few times before transforming back into his human form. He crouched on the windowsill and looked down at the ground, "It wouldn't have killed me," he said, his voice still cold - it tended to stay like unless he made an effort to change it. This boy wasn't worth the effort. He smirked and cocked his head to the side as he watched a second year wonder around the lake on her own.

Alex turned and smiled at Faith, "No, I was just spending some time on my own...I don't actually know where Gary is." Standing up Alex pulled himself onto the ledge beside Faith, just as he finished the drawing of the bird of prey soaring across the sky. "It's beautiful," he whispered looking out over the lake and the mountains. "I can see why you like it here," he said to the boy as he landed back in the tower.
