The Hospital Wing was empty. It was a rare occurrence; normally there was at least one student with some idiotic injury caused by magic, or stomach pains due to making the wrong antidote in Potions. Rose entered, walking gracefully and smiling at every click her heels made on the wooden floor. She drummed her fingers together, looking around at all the shelves of pills and potions. "What to choose, what to choose," she murmured to herself, running a finger along a dusty ledge as she tried to decide which of the potions she should test next. It was a newly developed hobby of hers; trying out medicines in order to find out what they were made of. Extra practice for Potions and satisfying her medical obsession all in one. Eventually she chose a glass bottle filled with a purplish liquid. She poured some out into one of the measuring cups on the main desk - it had the viscosity of maple syrup - and stirred it, tapping it with her wand occasionally to see what spells made an effect.

That afternoon Edward made his way to the hospital wing, he had only come to collect a antidote for Carlisle, he had a paient with a magical related illness, Edward wasn't one for medicine but he had spent many times with Carlisle and his doctor related work to know a fair amount that and the fact he had studied medicine, herbal remidies and usual antidotes, what else was he to do whilst the others of his family went off about their business and 'needs' pushing open the door, he smelt Rose before he saw her "afternoon Rose" he said in causal greeting, before he moved across the room to the small cabinate, he even had the ey to unlock it Carlisle was to work at Hogwarts in the hospital wing after the next term break, unlocking the cabinate he bent down and begun to sort though the various philes and pots of pills.

"What are you after?" she asked, not looking up from her experiment. "Whatever it is, you're in the wrong place. That shelf is cough medicines. I know. I've done that whole cabinet." It was irritating that nothing in the Hospital Wing was labelled, but then again, that would spoil her fun. She leant lazily on the desk - forgetting, as always, how short her school skirt was - and raised the measuring cup to her mouth. She sniffed it gently, and put out her tongue to taste it, like a cat. It was oddly sweet; it tasted of flowers and a little of sherbert. It was also cold. Very, very cold; so cold it burnt, in fact. She bit her tongue in surprise and dropped the cup, spilling the medicine on the floor, where it began to spread out very slowly. She swore loudly and bent down to start cleaning it up.

"They changed it around again?" he asked with small annoyance, why could they not leave things in the same place shutting the cabinate closed he locked it, a lot of use the key was, he pocketed it then turned around to survey the room for the spercific phile the contained what Carlisle wanted although another view greeted him, one he wasn't entirely expecting, he blinked and hastily looked away, then moved to the shelf near by frowned and scanned the many items lifting them and moving some, it was then he heard the gentle smach, he paused and looked over to Rose, already beginning to clean up mess, out of polietness Edward moved over to her and knelt and too begun to clean it up, many hands made light work.

[How dare you! ]

"Thanks," she mumbled, soon doing a double take and pausing. "What - wait, why are we cleaning it up like this?" She sighed and grabbed her wand from the table, twirling it gently between her fingers - a skill learnt from Professor Flitwick - before deciding which cleaning spell to use. Soon, the mess was gone, even the glass, and she straightened up, dusting herself down. "I'm going to be a good little housewitch when I'm older, aren't I?" she commented sarcastically, smiling at Edward. "What were you looking for anyway?"

Edward straigtend after with a small smile "I think there would be many men who would wish to have you as there wife" he chuckled and gently and playfully he ruffled her hair, although it was un characteristic of him, he frowned lightly at her question "well, I know the colour not the name, it's a turquoise colour in a tall fine phile, Carlisle wants it" he shrugged slightly then moved back to the shelfs, there were some higher up, slipping off his shoes briefly he stepped up onto the bed to see the top shelf he sorted through them pickign a few up and examining them, and also smelling them, the scent of them were often distinct enough

"No, it's over here," she said quickly, going to a shelf on the next wall and standing on tiptoes to try and reach it. Being short was awkward, but occasionally it was to her advantage. Very occasionally. Still, she struggled, and pretty soon managed to get a good grasp on the vial Edward was after. "Here. What do you want it for? I don't think I've tested this one - what is it?" she asked, standing at ease again and brushing herself down, straightening her skirt. The vial was nicely shaped; it was obviously quite an expensive potion, so it was odd for Edward to be looking for it. Still, if it was for Carlisle, then there was probably a very good reason behind his requests. Carlisle was quite famous in the wizarding medical world, and very well respected.

[Well that made me laugh! I just watched Perfume. ]

She ignored his comment and took the vial, closing her eyes to try and capture the smell better. "Lavender...I think," she whispered, then reconsidered, "No, it smells like...like...like a clematis, you know, the ones that climb houses." She opened her eyes and handed it back. There was something very calming in that smell; something which made her feel suddenly light-headed, but not at all dizzy. She blinked a few times to clear her mind and smiled brightly. It had reminded her oddly of something she'd smelt only once, when she was a few years younger, in one of her friends' house. It reminded her of night, and of laughter, and of slow movements and reclining figures. She couldn't quite place it, though; there had been many nights like that, most with various different smells. This one was different, though. In any case, it had a slightly sickening tinge to it.

Edward watched her, his eyes brow rasing, catiously as if it was litrally some drug he took it carefully off of her and put the top back on, he chuckled breathy "Perhaps you should sit down" he commented due to the near drunken expression she bore on her face "Perhaps, it is, but Carlisle wants it so there's obvious reason" he stated he frowned mildy seeing the small slideshow that was pictured in Rose's mind, "hmm" he expressed other then that he didn't comment further "now you know what I am doing here, might I ask what you are doing here? other then creataing such a 'loud' smell" he mused softly the corners of his lips lifted gently into a crooked smile

She raised an eyebrow and licked her top lip surreptitiously. "I was testing things. I like medicines - and I like to know how things work," she said simply, turning around and collecting another bottle from a lower shelf. "So I test them, and work out what they're made of and what they do. Most of these are unlabelled anyway, so it's like a bit of a challenge for me to try and work out what they all are. I've spent enough time hanging around in St. Mungo's to know what most of the effects should be." There was a slightly bitter note in her voice at this last comment, but only because it felt like a waste of time back then. Now she saw that it had all been very useful - after all, it was the reason she could do the healing spells that weren't on the school syllabus.

"Mmm - it's not a very common hobby," she smiled, sitting down neatly on the edge of the bed after a few awkward moments of not knowing what to do. "But, err, enough about that. It's a bit embarrassing, really." She blushed as if to prove her point, and ran a hand through her hair as her mind quickly wandered off the subject - medicine, St. Mungo's, that boy she used to have a bed next to in the ward, playing chess with him, making practical jokes for the nurses with him... All good fun! She shook her head, suddenly realising how she'd drifted off, and looked to Edward expectantly in case she'd missed anything he'd said.
