The slowly darkening sky loomed nearer, the early night was alive more so then many realized. The air was thick suffocatingly thick in ways of fog, The only visible thing to the human eye was the tree that was a yard in front of them, the rest remained a mystery. However, at this particular time Edward had decided to hunt, his eyes black with thirst a dark deep penetrating abyss of no emotion, it was only this one time when he hunted could he truly release the animal inside of him, he cared little at this moment for self restraint. For any human who dared enter the forest at such a time was a simple fool, and knew nothing of the sheer creatures that lurked in the darkness. Creatures that many thought only existed in fairy tales and films. But this was no film not fantasy this was life, the darker side of life, and Edward was that. A creature, a creature many being feared and dreamed of in the shape of petty bats. This thought only brought bitter brief laughter to Edwards lips, for it was false, of course, the same applied to holy water and stakes, with skin like marble any silly object like that would simply break.

So Edward with in the thick darkness of the howling night cries of wolfs and screeches of owls surrounded the forest. Yet his sight, keen and accurate gazed among the trees. He saw perfectly. Within the distance a faint shuffling was heard that of a simple doe with it's small (as he now noticed) herd. Only a few, but enough. Edward moved swiftly leaves stirred in his inhuman speed, he weaved in and without the many trees, his gaze transfixed upon the unsuspecting doe. Silently he moved making no sound. Within moments he was closing in barely pausing the Doe spotted him before she smelt the stench of death. With it she darted of and away in zig-zag lines. She was fast granted, But she was not fast enough. Edward changed course approaching from the left, he cut it off and simply leaped, his body of stone, collided with the fragile frame of the doe. He and the doe toppled to the floor, it's struggles meaningless.

With it's eyes open in fright, It continued to struggle the pure fear reached Edwards nose, his throat burned and venom was soon produced with that and a simple tweak, followed by an audible crack the Doe's neck was broken, it's body battered and dieing, the birds under such a swift motion took flight their caws echoed across the eeriy grounds. With this, Edward pulled his lip back and sank his teeth deep into the creatures neck, and he drank. Every. Last. Drop. The poor creature had stood no chance.

Shae had ventured into the forest as she did on rare occassions - she tried her best to keep off Hogwarts grounds, as she had never been fond of people who were younger than her, quite truly she found herself growing more and more weary of their adolescent drama scenes, of which she'd never been fond, anyway. Every now and again, however, Shae had found herself wandering with determination through the forest, picking up leaves from plants and small herbs along the way, silently stuffing them into a small bag she was carrying. She was making her way steadily towards the school grounds, where she would sneak into the greenhouses and steal a few more herbs and plants. working in illegal potions dealing, Shae was not phased by the fact that she had to resort to petty theft in order to get her ingredients. While she would happily go to a potions shop and get some ingredients, some things were just not found there, a lot of the leaves were dried where Shae preferred fresh and she thought 'why pay when you can easily get things for free?' - Shae was quite used to getting what she wanted, either by manipulation, or theft. She was not porud of her thieving.. her manipulation was a whole other story.

As she snuck through the forest, determined not to disturb any living or dead creature in the forest, she heard a snap. Stopping dead in her tracks, her etes scanned the forest around her. Her eyesight was that of a regular human with perfect vision, and she could still not see a thing in the dark. Petrified, she stopped herself from lighting her wand, which was steadily clasped in her hand.

There were no further sounds.

She then decided it was just a passing creature - she was not stupid enough to underestimate the life of that which seemed lifeless in these woods, and would therefore not stoop to think it was merely the wind - and walked on, her black cloak, camuflaging her perfectly with the darkness of the woods, billowing behind her.

Again, she stopped dead in her tracks. This time, it was not just a passing creature, nor the wind. It was settled right in front of her. Feeding, it seemed, judging from the heavy breathing of the creature. She was certain the creature must've seen her by now - she was right in front of it. If it was a creature that hunted at night, surely it would have the vision to see her standing right in front of its feeding grounds.

she lit her wand, throwing caution to the wind, thinking she should see what it was, should she have to defend herself.

Relief.

It was Edward, feeding on a small doe. Shae gave a long relieved sigh and smiled at Edward, "caught you at a bad time, did I?" she inquired, an inquisitive smirk plastered on her face.

The creature was soon drained of any fluid that had cirulated around it's veins and artery's it's heart had stopped beating ages ago, the temptation to pull out the creatures heart and drain that too of remaining blood was there, no matter how masochistic it sounded though Edward would not sink quite that low. A sudden closer heartbeat thumped, a human one at that. Edward insatly got to his feet, his muscles flexed in peperation to genuinally attack the being. He had been very foolish as per usual, leaving hunting till last, till it was verging on the point of madness. Lifting his charcoal black, penatraiting(sp?) gaze to the figure before him, his vision perfect, in the night as clear as it was in the day. They landed on the human, female. Edward recongnized instantly whom it was. Shae to be exact. A small rumble of a growl stirred in his chest. Lightly passing his lips. He was more or less currently controlled by blood lust. It took every ounce of self contraol, not to attack Shae and therefore drain her blood. caught you at a bad time, did I? Edward summoning what slight humanity he had left rolled his dark eyes, although that simple gesture looked somewhat menacing. "You do have an habit for staing the obvious don't you?" He questioned suddenly harshly. His mood was groughy and brooding every time he lacked hunting. Admittidly Edward hated having other watch him eat, or catch him in the act of drinking you could say, as if the very thought of killing things was not bad enough.

"stating?" Shae inquired with an air of humour on her tone, "no.. no. That was a question, sweetheart. Did you skip English class these past 100 years?" she gave a small laugh, playful as usual, her heart beating a little lower at the relief of seeing Edward and not someone else.

She caught a glimpse of his eyes - they were stark black; somethign Shae knew to mean he was hungry. She thought for a moment, concidering just leaving him there without another word, knowing his temper could slide overboard any second. But, accompanied by a smirk, she found herself to recall she found Edward quite entertaining whenever he was in a bad mood - more likable than the normal Edward, even, and she was quite fond of the normal Edward. So she stood her ground, eager to agitate him to the point where she could have her fun with him - though, she knew to be cautious, as a few scars on her body would show.

"Oh but you know how much I like games!" Shae grinned at him, the air of an excited schoolgirl in her voice, quite obviously to mask her sarcastic sense of humour.

With a small grin she placed a hand on his chest - which was mildly covered in blood - and patted it condescendingly, then proceeded to wander around him in a tight circle, "having yourself a midnight snakc then, eh?" she inquired, grinning. After a small pause, she stopped, shook her head and stared down at the dead animal, "would you look at that.. not even beast enough to take down a bigger thing. Tsk," she said, her back turned to him, a smirk appeared on her face, she turned to face him "You are quite aware that the forest is filled with creatures of all shapes and sizes.. the fact that you went for one of the smaller ones is kind of sad, isn't it? the monster you claim to be, not so much of a monster, is it?"

"oh I dare you to.." she grinned at him, stepping behind him and bending down to whisper in his ear, "I double dare you," she said, a small laugh following her words as she nibbled his earlobe for less than a fraction of a second. she stood back up again, a satisfied smirk on her face.

"There's something you don't quite understand, dear.." she said, before settling herself on a low-hanging branch of the nearest tree, "you are a monster, nonetheless, and you do still hunt. The fact that you're not man enough to actually grab a decent sized animal just makes you a pthetic monster. Big turn off," she followed her statement with a wink as she crossed her legs and leaned back against the trunk of the tree.

"oh.. as for the neck-snapping thing.. no need to go into details. I got it the first time around."

Edward heard Shae beside him, and then the subtle whisper before he felt the light nibble on his ear. Edward turned his head and growled at her, as if to tell her to back off. In his current state, he was certainly not even remotely human. He watched as Shae moved away, linsting to her comments, irritated him further. Within seconds again barely visble he was by Shae, his pale hand clasped tightly around her neck and pinning it against the tree. His grip was firm and vice like. Among the many girls Edward new Shae was the least breakable. "It just so happens then that I could not care less whether it is a turn on or off, you are not the one I wish to turn on anyway" He stated, his hand gripped tighter briefly cutting off her windpipe, before he felt the pulsing blood. He instantly released his grip and jumped a good metre off the tree to land nimberly on his feet. As he resited that brief urge a moment ago, to bite into Shae's visble neck.

As Edward put his hand on Shae's neck, she sat perfectly still, unable to wipe the smirk from her face, even as her airway was blocked momentarily. She knew Edward wouldn't do anything. Not untill she had thoroughly pissed him off, anyway. She loved it when he was like this however, she couldn't help btu love the thrill of knowing she was in danger - she was certain all people loved the adrenaline rush of that.

"Never meant to say you wanted to turn me on," she said, rubbing her bruised neck, a smirk still firmly planted on her face, "though we both know how things have ended up in the past when it comes to those things, I don't think you're one to deny anything."

She slid off the branch and narrowed her eyes at him, "what's this I see? still hungry, are we?" she inquired, raising her eyebrows smugly as she followed his eyes resting on her neck. "Tsk.. you really are a monster. You should've had your fill by now, but you and I both know it's not the actual food you love.. it's the chase.. the vicious violence that no one will judge you on.. the thrill of the kill, as they say. It's a shame you don't show this side more often. No one wants the man.."

"Oh but it's all talk, Edward," she said, pushing him to the limit - he was such a fun plaything - hoping he'd crack. "There's only one time you've ever cracked under the pressure of hunger and if it wasn't for magic I'm sure I'd still have my arm in a sling," she recalled, hoping to stir up painful memories to him. She knew how much he regretted that one time he'd slipped. "I wonder whether you're man enough to stop yourself from biting into me.. whether you're strong enough.." she paused and walked up to him, her short hair not doing anything to hide her long vulnerable neck. Edward wouldn't bite her, she was sure, but she'd love to see him struggle to resist the urge, in many cases she knew he'd go crazy, get violent.. exactly the way she liked him. It was much more fun that way.

"Yes, yes.. what a man you are.. hiding in a tree from a little girl. It's a shame you deny yourself the liberties your species should have.." she said, in a slight mumble, though she knew Edward could hear her.

"you enjoy yourself up there," she said, and walked to the doe, settling herself on its carcass, "I'll just sit here with the rest of your food, and pretend I'm a tiny defenseless animal.. maybe that'll bring some fun into you, seeing as you prefer the weak ones.."

Unable to control an excited smirk, Shae said nothing, but got out her wand, which was strapped to the side of the thigh, held it aloft and gestured for him to bring it on. She wasn't scared. She knew Edward would never hurt a fly, did he have the choice, and even when he was as predatory as he was now, he wouldn't do anything serious.. anything she couldn't recover from. She enjoyed the way he seemed wilder, more careless when he was like this. She was certain the worst he could do was to simply break her arm as he did the last time he got this frustrated.

She gave a small high-pitched laugh, unable to control her growing excitement at his temper, though it came across as mocking and evil - quite unintentionally, but Shae thought it brought a nice ring to the current situation, nonetheless.
