The Hogwarts library is complex maze of annexes and reading nooks. Towards the South there is a room bathed in sunlight, a rounded space encased on three sides with chalkboards that continue from floor to ceiling. High, circular desks are scattered around the room, swivel stools gathered in around them like satellites waiting for students to pull them out and make them useful. One of the boards is covered with equations that are a mixture of numbers and runes and traditional mathematical symbols, an equals sign at the bottom bereft of an answer. Another board has a name written on it in angular, clean print, “Professor Darien Daàs”.

The man himself sits on top of one of the tables, chalk dust covering his fingers and a streak of blue ink smudged underneath one ear from a quill that he has stuck in his hair. Darien was not what you would call… confidence inspiring, he was more the comforting type. The kind of teacher who doesn’t yell, only looks sad and tells you how disappointed he is. He was dressed in slightly rumpled, dark green robes over an equally rumpled, grey pinstripe suit, though his tie had long ago been discarded and forgotten about.

For now Darien simply waits, words and numbers swirling in his head, for his first students to arrive.

((Post open to anyone who wants to take Arithmancy. Hogwarts is, after all, a school.))

Molly walked slowly down the hall, luckily for her she had prepared herself the night before. This time her ferret companion was asleep in her hood, using her long bouncy hair as a blanket. She smiled contently and headed down halls and walked casually down the stairs. Happy to be attending a lesson under instruction by Darien, whom she had befriended earlier in the week. She sighed contently and rubbed her forehead softly and entered the room, books under her arm. Porcelain skin bringing out her Hazel eyes hidden under long eyelashes. She walked in and lightly tapped him on the shoulder and waited for him to notice her, bending down to get in his veiw. Spotting the stuck quil in his hair, she giggled and shook her head, "Professor" she commented. Blinking quickly as a ball of white and black fluff fell out of her hood and onto the desk, squeeking abruptly, she looked up at Darien, "sweeny?" she commented with an apologectic expression, scooping up the irritated yet adorable ferret in her hands.

“Why, Miss Molly, hello!” Darien beamed at the arrival of his very first student, laughing his odd, quiet laugh when the ferret tumbled onto the desk in front of him. “And hello to you as well, Mister Sweeny.” He carefully unfolded himself from the table and stood patting his hair down. It was a losing battle, though Darien did finally notice the quill and pull it out with an irritated sigh. He glanced at it, shrugged, and pushed it back in behind his ear.

“Welcome to Arithmancy, Miss Molly. I am so pleased you decided to take my class! Have you studied the subject much?”
